Introducing Deep Data For Shopify!

Introducing Deep Data For Shopify!

Shopify is one of the fastest growing eCommerce platforms on the market today.
And after the recent success of our basic Shopify integration, we wanted to take it to the next level!
So, for the past 6+ months we’ve dedicated an entire team to work on getting the deepest data possible from Shopify.
Plus, we also wanted to add the ability to track, segment, and personalize your customer’s experience based on their behaviors on your Shopify store.
Which is why today, I’m excited to announce our newest (and biggest) feature to date:
Deep Data integration with Shopify for all Sendlane users!

What Does This Mean To You?

Deep Data for Shopify allows you to pass all of the important information from your Shopify store to Sendlane – so you can leverage that data for your email marketing!
In this article, we’ll break down:
As one of our biggest updates, I wanted to dive in fully and share all the details of this new integration.
But if you want to learn more about a specific feature or capability, just click on that topic in the list above and we’ll jump you right to that part of the post!

How To Set Up Deep Data For Shopify

The best part about setting up Deep Data for Shopify is it’s REALLY easy.
If you already have Shopify integrated inside of your account, the connection just needs a quick reset to pass the deeper data.

If this is your first time integrating Shopify with Sendlane, we have a step by step guide here. It’s only 6 simple steps of connecting your Sendlane account with your Shopify to allow us to do the heavy lifting for you.
So check out our “how to” article right here to set up your Shopify integration now!

The 4 Elements Of Deep Data Integration

When it comes to Deep Data for Shopify, the 4 elements are:
  1. Track
  2. Collect
  3. Segment
  4. Personalize
Let’s explore each one here so you get a better idea of the benefits for your email marketing.

1. TRACK

Using Sendlane’s event tracking and a simple “copy and paste” install, we’ll track your customers on every step of their buying journey.
You’ll be able to know EXACTLY how your visitors move and navigate through your site. Plus, we’ll store and display all that data within their customer profile in your Sendlane account (more on that later).

2. COLLECT

Our new Deep Data capabilities allow us to capture the entire record of your customers behaviors on your Shopify store.
From website visits to product purchases to how much they spent, we’ll collect all of that info for you.
Plus, the data sync happens in real time, so you can view the most updated details (by customer) ANYTIME you want!

3. SEGMENT

The #1 thing we encourage at Sendlane is segmenting your data.
In order to maximize your ROI of your marketing efforts, it’s important to leverage the power of segmentation.
From purchase behaviors on your website, purchases of certain products and categories, location, the amount of money spent, if an order has been fulfilled (for the drop shippers out there), or any other detail, Sendlane will help you narrow down your audience to the exact specs that you want.

4. PERSONALIZATION

The more personalized the email message, the more likely it is that you’ll see a larger ROI for your marketing efforts!
So, from dynamic abandoned cart links to displaying product purchases or recommendations, we’ll allow you to customize the entire buyer’s journey for each individual customer using our marketing automation.

A Completely Custom Email Experience

As you can see, our ultimate goal is to help you maximize your email marketing with more data, features and capabilities.
So, here are a few ways our Deep Data integration with Shopify does exactly that:

POWERFUL SEGMENTATION ABILITIES

With Deep Data for Shopify, you’ll be able to segment your users any way you want.
This means you can now segment based on more than just the basics like name, email, or activity.
Instead, you can easily and quickly segment users by things like: address, product purchases, Shopify fields, product categories, dollar amount spent, websites visited, and much more.
Check out our Case Use (later in this article) to see more examples.
Since we collect every bit of information for your Shopify store, you can segment your list based on that data in just seconds.
Oh and if you don’t know how to use segmentation just yet, we have a easy to follow article right here.

THE NEW SENDLANE PROFILE VIEW

With the new release of Deep Data for Shopify, we also updated the Profile View for your customers.
Now we’ll build their profile based on the data we’re able to pull from Shopify, as well as their actions as a member of your Sendlane list.

As you can see, you’ll see all the activities of this contact. From custom fields you may be inputting, to custom tags and products, down to the exact amount they’ve purchased – all of that info is there!
And if you set up your Event Tracking, we’ll even display the websites they’ve visited.
That’s powerful data in an “easy on the eyes” format.
Plus, you can use it to segment your contacts however you want!

NEW SHOPIFY PERSONALIZATION TAGS

With our Deep Data Integration, we’ll import fields and tags from Shopify so you can access that information directly inside of Sendlane.
You can still use all of our standard personalization tags and we’re in the process of adding more!
Plus, we’re also working on pulling Shopify fields you can call inside of your email campaigns:
  • Shopify ID
  • Total Revenue
  • # of orders
  • # of products ordered
  • Currency of last order
  • Price of last order
  • Shipping method of last order
  • Product count of last order
  • Product ID of last order
  • Name of last product purchased
  • Category of last product purchased
These new fields are dynamically connected to your Shopify account, so each one is assigned specific variables that are completely custom to your individual Sendlane account:
The data is automatically mapped in your contact’s profile so you can call each of these fields for use in your personalization and  advanced segmentation.

ABANDONED CART RECOVERY

69% of online shopping carts are abandoned but almost 11% of those are recoverable with abandoned cart emails!
Ok that’s a powerful stat… but how?
Let me show you:
  1. From inside of your Sendlane account jump over to Automations
  2. Click Add Automation
  3. Then Start from scratch
  4. Select Workflow and choose the Abandoned Checkout option from the dropdown
  5. Choose the timing you want to use to trigger your abandoned cart workflow
  6. Then name your automation
  7. Add a Send Email action
  8. Click to create a new email
  9. Then and add in your Campaign Info and start customizing your message
  10. Now, this is where we made it EASY! Finish your email by adding in a button
And that’s it!
Sendlane will pre-populate our dynamic Shopify Abandoned Cart link into the button, so anyone that clicks will be redirected to the cart they abandoned on your Shopify store!
From there, you’ll want to finish creating your workflow.
Once you have that built, the workflow will handle the rest – running the automation anytime a potential customer abandons their cart.
This is a quick, easy way to maximize customer value!

Case Use – Deep Segmentation

In this case use, we’ll show you 2 powerful examples of segments you can implement and why you should!

SEGMENT 1. PRODUCT PURCHASERS

This segment is powerful for new releases.
Let’s say you’re selling high end coffee and tea products, and you just stocked a brand new gourmet coffee blend in your Shopify store.
You want to send out an email to share the good news, but you know the best approach is to target customers who are most likely to enjoy this new product.
Creating a quick segment allows you to send a campaign to the people who purchased special blends from you in the past, letting them know all about it!

In a matter of moments you’ll start to see interest and hopefully sales!

SEGMENT 2. PEOPLE WHO SPENT $X

They say a customer who’s spent at least $1 with you is more likely to come back and buy again.
Any time you have a hot new item (or a product you want to test) the best way to test your offer is to target your top spenders.
With Deep Data information, you can segment buyers by the exact amount of dollars they’ve spent, and send campaigns designed just for them!

TIP: Remember with the deep data information and segmentation, you can now cross segment on multiple data points allowing you to create the “perfect audience” each and every time.
